Shola's Story

Hello, my name is Shola Ola, a young ambitious man from the Yoruba culture. I am one of the members, an active admin of the Facebook page, Proudly Yoruba. Today, I come out with a broken and humble heart seeking your support and assistance. This is a cry out to all my fathers and mothers, sisters and brothers out there in this community and a nation as a whole. I'm a young, hardworking man that is aspiring to further his studies abroad. I have made inquiries from universities in Europe namely: Estonia, Latvia and a couple more. After all the findings, the fees, and other expenses to achieve this goal prompt me to seek your help. Because my financial level will not be enough, therefore I'm here seeking for your support and assistance in order to realise this dream of mine. Yes, I'm quite aware of the present heat in Nigeria, the inconveniences going on in our great country Nigeria. I know the struggles most of us are faced with on daily basis and believe me I know there is a lot of battles going on in our various lives and fields. With my young age, I have been through many things a man of my age shouldn't have experienced, I have faced hardships in different ways and levels in my young life. Life has taught me unforgettable lessons, have been through storms, I' have experienced difficulties, setbacks, rejections, etc which I wouldn't want to put into writing or bother anyone with at this stage. Notwithstanding, I still have faith in God and humanity. This is my only hope to be somebody I dreamt of while I was a kid, a hope to be something useful in life, to be useful to my generation, to my country and to the society at large. Please help me with whatever you have.  Without your indispensable help I am nothing. I'm here to beg you through this means because life has humbled me several times, taught me this tangible lesson, to ask for help. Severally, have wept days and nights without anyone to console my broken, hopeless heart and I still do seeing my life, myself and my time waste away.  I have struggled over the years to better myself, my situation to make something reasonable out of my life, but it's so much of a challenge, for the very fact that I'm from a very humble background with little or no help coming forth from my family. Well, I'm the sole sponsor of myself. That's my fate.
Don't get me wrong, me asking for your help doesn't mean I'm lazy or something, but the hopelessness, the lack of perspectives that governs this country which millions of young people like me are subjected to,  is exactly the main reason behind my action and the only way I feel I can survive. By all honesty, I'm a hardworking fellow who would take up any job to support myself or do whatever it takes on my side to raise the fund to sustain my education. I would be the last person to sit and wait for something to happen, as I always push, work hard to attain whichever goal I set myself. But this time I need a helping hand or maybe more helping hands. I am to study Art Science in the University of Estonia or Latvia. The tuition fee and other expenses of 5000 are too exorbitant for me considering my financial capability. No matter how much effort I'm putting in, I'm just not able to raise this huge fund and that is why I'm turning to you for support. There is this popular Yoruba adage which says; AJEJI OWO KAN KO GBE ERU DE ORI. (one hand alone can't lift a heavy load to place it on the head). “You have to lift a person up before you can really put them in their place.” NO AMOUNT OF YOUR KIND GESTURE IS TOO LITTLE, such is greatly appreciated.

I thank you from the bottom of my heart for your kindness and generosity. I make a solemn promise that this fund will be used exactly for the same purpose mentioned above and your money will be invested sustainably. You all are the most generous people I know and I'm indebted to you. May heaven rewards you in manifolds.

I'm Olanike Adewusi-Anders, I decided to take this bold step to open a gofundme account for this young brother, his story is so sad that it moved me to this action. Shola is down to earth, a very humble and hardworking dude. I myself can't finance his studies alone due to my personal obligations but would love to see him achieve his dreams, become somebody in life. Through my help and your help, he will make it. I know there are million of cases like him out there, but we have to start somewhere, who knows you might be the next to be supported, it might be your son or your daughter that will get an aid to ease his or her way through life. “There is no exercise better for the heart than reaching down and lifting people up.” There is nothing more beautiful than someone who goes out of their way to make life beautiful for others.”
