BRAVE-THE-SHAVE Fundraiser

Ursula Crawford moved to Asheville five years ago to begin a new life, new friendships and a sense of community . S​he quickly fit into the vibrancy of Asheville and brought something special to the diversity of our community.

In her professional life, she worked with young adults with disabilities and later as an advocate/social worker for children in foster care. She was instrumental in starting a local group of like minded folks with a common goal of bringing diversity to Asheville with Diversity Alliance, Asheville.

Ursula’s sense of humor is ever present, she shines her light wherever she goes. Following her diagnosis with Stage 4 Cancer earlier this year, in her words,…”who knew this sister would become a Beatles fan, getting by with a little help from my friends.” She continues to dance with grace to her other new theme song, Whitney Houston’s “Step By Step.”

In addition to her love for music, Ursula is a thoughtful conversationalist and a good listener. Since all of these traits are the foundation for developing deep friendships, she has made many, and touched many lives with her uniqueness and love.... It's our time, as a community, to help and reach out to our sister, Ursula, and to stand by her, " Step by Step ", as she faces this traumatic life change and help her to accomplish her dreams & wishes, and to help ease her financial worries so she can rest, get her treatments and heal.
