If forced to go back to her country, she faces an "HONOR" KILLING... Simply for thinking she was making her own decisions. Something all of us have a right to in the U.S., but not the case for women in other parts of the world...
I want to introduce you to M. I won't give her full name because it could be damaging to her safety. She is studying here in the U.S.
She's a very young woman from Saudi Arabia. She suffers from a couple of debilitating, but treatable diseases.
She was forced into a marriage she didn't want. She came here to study English, which also provided a temporary escape from her abusive husband.
Her husband here quickly became abusive, a wild card she didn't expect at all. Now she is faced with the crisis of having nowhere to go.
She wants to do everything she can to keep her, and her daughter, safe.
She needs asylum from our government - the land of the free. Freedom to live a healthy life without being murdered with rocks for nothing more than choosing her own path! Freedom to practice whatever belief she chooses and marrying whomever she chooses, or never marrying! These are rights we hold dear in this country, and wish on everybody.
She has been provided an attorney who will take her case for free. Now, we are trying to keep her in a safe place at a safe distance from the abuser.
She will need food, utilities, and rent for at least one month. With her diseases, it is imperative that she can remain healthy and take care of herself for this month-long transition.
She is literally cut off from all resources. Her family has cut her off and she has nobody. She is literally not much more than a child, stranded in a foreign country lest she go home and be executed for escaping her husband, and without any resources to take care of her most basic needs. She needs help.
This is a crisis that none of us can help her with on our own. She needs people to pool together. Any dollar amount will help.
I wish you could meet her. She is the sweetest, cutest, gentlest, young woman. She suffers a lot and has no idea why everything in her life is turning out so bad. She's victim of both circumstance and abuse.
If you know me, you will understand that I mean it when I say she will die if forced to go back home.
