Irma Destroyed Beloved Shantyboat
Donation protected
Lynn Skapyak Harlin and her husband Jim have owned their Shantyboat, which was docked at the Seafarers Marina, for almost two decades. It was totally destroyed in Hurricane Irma. There is no trace of it left. Nothing remains. The Shanty Boat — which they lived on for six years but more recently was used as space for a beloved local writers writers workshop, is now gone.
If you've lived in Jacksonville for a number of years, and have crossed paths with Lynn or Jim and know how special they are, or attended one of Lynn's workshops, please consider donating so they can at the very least replace some of their belongings, all of which were on board when the Shantyboat was decimated. Or even if you don't know them but are someone who loves words or the Shantyboat life, anything you can give will help. Please know how much this is devastating the local writing community in Jax, and what a loss this is for all involved.
