Shanna Theil's Funeral Fund

Shanna was one of the most genuine and kind people you would ever meet! She was outspoken, charismatic and loved to shop! Anyone that met her, remembered her!

Diagnosed with a severe learning disability at a very young age, the doctors had said she would never graduate, work, or live a normal life. Well apparently, they didnt know Shanna and her determination! She not only went on to graduate high school but held a job at Kroger's as a bagger for over 15 years!

One of the things she always wanted to do was be a student aid to the handicapped. This was one of her toughest goals to achieve for the fact that colleges do not effieciently offer help to students with severe learning disabilities. 

Even though Shanna was not able to get her Teaching Assistant degree, she went on to help many of the residents at Josina Lott where she lived.

She reguarly helped with daily activities and tasks, befriended most everyone she met, was part of People First (a self-advocate group for people with disabilities), participated in many programs through The Ability Center of Greater Toledo, played basketball and was training for a 5k walk.

Shanna passed away today (April 8th, 2016) unexpectly after fainting at work.  Even the quick response of coworkers and parametics could not save her from a unknown blood clot in her leg that reached her lung. 

She will be greatly missed and always remembered!

We are collecting money for Shanna's funeral expenses and memorial service.  Anyone that is able to donate anything at all, it would be greatly appreciatiated.

Shanna's service and memorial will be held on Sat. April 23rd, 2016 at: Newcomer Funeral Home, Northwest Chapel 4150 W. Laskey Rd, Toledo, OH 43623 from 1:00pm to 3:00pm - luncheon immediately following.
