Please Help Erase Overdue School Lunch Debt
Inspired by this amazing suggestion by others who have done this in their community and as a past reduced school lunch program recipient myself; I am now a college student, majoring in Human Biology and Health and Society, with a minor in Health Policy, I most enjoy my nutrition classes.
Knowing firsthand how hunger and the embarrassment of not being able to afford lunch at my public school was; I am collecting funds to donate to the Broward County School District, one of the largest counties in the US to help pay down students' overdue meal accounts.
I've spoken with Gina Dougherty of the Food and Nutrition Services, who has indicated that there is significant need in this area and the goal is quite lofty. The donations will be prioritized to help the students with the greatest need first.
Let's take some pressure off families in our own community. It is all about paying it forward. Let's see how much can we raise?
