Dear Community & Friends,
As far back as the early 1800s, Pleasant Grove has been a committed community of believers meeting under the trees in what would be known later as Houston County. Our resilient congregation has a history that has survived the trail of tears, the Civil War, Reconstruction, Jim Crow, and the Civil Rights movements. And while this great country was experiencing its own growing pains, splits and reunifications, our church was not exempt. From church splits to family feuds, from break-ins to lock outs, we’ve experienced it all.
After surviving storm after storm, and even coming to the point of fearing that closing the doors would be our only option, we simply decided to believe God. We chose to believe that God had not brought us this far to leave us and would begin to fill His house with families again. We chose to believe that God would send us a shepherd after His own heart who could love us even in our emptiness. And as we started believing, God started blessing. And as excited as we are, we are still in desperate need of help! We, the leadership, administration and staff of Pleasant Grove Baptist Church would like to share with you our fears of the possibility of closing the doors of our Church, especially after fighting so long to survive. The storms have depleted us and we are simply not strong enough to stand on our own.
We’re asking for your help in brotherly love so that we can hold on to Pleasant Grove’s century old legacy while learning to be better stewards of the vision that God has entrusted us with; creating a place that becomes home for the lost, help for the least and hope for the last. We’ve already survived the storms, but with your loving support, Pleasant Grove will have the opportunity to shine before Christ brighter than ever. Would you consider making a generous donation towards a small town church with the determination to make a difference?
