Dearest Family and close friends:
We wanted to share a very serious yet extremely private matter that our daughter, granddaughter, and niece has been suffering and battling.
Sarah has been battling severe depression and anxiety for over a year, and this has been a very tough time particulary for Sarah, her mother and the family to deal with. The depression has had a huge impact on Sarah's peace and well being during a time of her life where she should be enjoying one of the most exciting and pivotal transitions to becoming a thriving young adult!
On a number of occasions this year, the disease has become so severe that Sarah has been hospitalized and treated by Psychiatrist's, Psycologists and Therapists specializing in mental health illness.
Many of us have either battled depression at a point in our lives or have had someone close to us who has experienced severe depression. I know for those who can relate, you can understand and empathize how serious this matter can be. Many people suffer from depression every day and are unfortunate to get the right help or support and lose the battle with depression by taking their lives out of despair. Our goal is never to be in that position with Sarah as we help her fight this battle through our prayers, love, and support.
Her depression has become crippling, and has had a severe affect on our most precious loved one. Unfortunately the depression has had a negative impact on Sarah's normal day to day functions; such as going to work, school and the most simplest of tasks like getting out of bed in the morning! We been told by the doctors treating Sarah that when depression is this severe it can take over a persons mind and all the peace and happiness that many of us get to experience daily. This has been extremely difficult for all of us to experience with Sarah as we'd just like to do anything in our power to free her from this disease. She's exhausted and has expressed the feeling of simply being very tired of fighting with her mind.
On Saturday 12/10/16, Sarah had a very difficult time, and was hospitalized at UCI Medical Center for depression and a severe anxiety attack. Her mother has tried various programs, doctors and psych medications throughout the year, and Sarah is still struggling to get through this.
Recently her Mother found hope through an amazing program in Malibu that Sarah was accepted into. The treatment program will provide Sarah with:
-Psychiatric medical assessment
-Medication management
-Psycological testing
-Intenstive one on one therapy
-Process group therapy with peers alike
-Various theraputic modalities such as equine and music therapy
-Round the clock care with doctors, therapists and nurses treating her for the next 30 days
Sarah has been in the program for a few days receiving intense treatment and therapy. She appears to be responding to the program and acclimating to the environment. This is going to be a long haul for her.
As one can imagine, the best specialized programs can be astronomical in costs and require more out of pocket expenses. The insurance coverages are limited and it will take time for benefit coverage to kick in.
Although this is such a private and personal matter for Sarah and her mother, we are reaching out to a circle of our extended family and friends of Andrea's. We are trying to raise some funds to help Sarah with her medical treatment during this very acute time. We're fighting for Sarah's life and well being right now and asking firstly for strong prayers from everyone and for any donations within everyone's personal means (everything helps and adds up). Her recovery is going to be a long haul and this program is just the beginning. Please help us raise some funds for her ongoing medical costs that we anticipate will be difficult for her mother to cover on her own.
Sarah is one of the sweetest and caring souls and we just want to give her hope and a fighting chance to a healthy life that lies ahead of her.
