Samantha's Mobility Lift
Donation protected
Our family of six struggles with multiple health issues*, and our oldest child, Samantha, is severely disabled, non-ambulatory and homebound for several reasons.
We have reached the point that we can not safely transfer her from her wheelchair to the car or back again. We NEED a lift to continue to meet our daughter's needs at home. A Milford Person Lift would improve the health and wellbeing of our entire family, allowing one person to easily transfer Samantha from wheelchair to car and back again. We could safely travel for doctor appointments, and even let Samantha have a fun outing when she is briefly healthy enough to do so. Having this lift would allow us to continue to care for our daughter at home for years to come.
Insurance does not cover any vehicle modifications, and the total cost of the person lift and installation is $5,455.
Dad is in the Army, and even when he is not deployed, he typically works a 14 hour day. Mom has two jobs outside the home, and also spends an exorbitant amount of time trying to manage the complex health needs of the family.
We are not lazy people and work very hard to barely make ends meet around here. Unfortunately, we ONLY make ends meet, and our savings account is full of nothing but dustbunnies, which makes the lift we need completely unattainable.
Any assistance you could offer towards the purchase of this lift would be eternally appreciated.
*Our 17 year old has Angelman Syndrome, severe seizure activity, is strictly tube fed a medically necessary diet, and is unable to speak or walk.
*Mom and two out of three boys have Ehlers Danlos Syndrome, which causes a host of issues, including chronic, debilitating pain, fatigue, muscle spasms, frequent dislocation of various joints, and muscle weakness.
