The community of neighbors that are running www.stopgreenhouselandfill.com have found that we do need to hire an attorney to represent the community and that we need to build a bigger presence to fight back against the landfill. The county attorney will not represent us so we have been forced to raise funds if we want to stop the expansion and work to shutdown the landfill. Harris county has requested a contested hearing to represent the interests of the County only.
The funds will be used for:
- Attorney fees to help file a contest hearing based on TCEQ's decision on Permit 1599B. Representation at the contested hearing will be provided by the attorney. Initial fees will be used just for consulting. (initial estimates for a court case have been bid at $100k+ but we are looking for voluntary representation first PROBONO)
- To hire experts to run tests or studies on the landfill.
- Hard costs such as signs in the community and website hosting.
The funds will NOT be used to pay for salaries or time for people in the community to move the cause forward. Only professional services and hard costs.

This fund will be distributed as approved by Gary Brown, the primary organizer of the movement.
We were certified by the IRS on 6/28/18 that we are a 501(C) 3 Public Charity Organization . Donors may deduct their contributions under IRC Section 170. We are registered under the name StopGreenHouseLandfill.
