Veterinary Care Fund

Tax deductible
When you see a stray, starving or abused dog or cat on the side of the road or abandoned in a parking lot and want to help them, where do you turn?  If you’re like most residents of Georgetown County or local animal control officer, you bring them to Saint Frances Animal Center.

Why?

Because we are Georgetown County’s only animal shelter and you know they will be cared for and provided excellent veterinary care to get them back on their paws or claws to good health.  And because you know that Saint Frances Animal Center will do everything they can to find a forever home for that dog or cat.  We take in more than 1200 stray, uncared for, sick and injured animals each year. We do not euthanize for space.

Your contributions have helped our devoted and caring veterinary staff nurse these animals back to health and get them ready for a new family.  It costs at an average of $165.00 per animal to get them adoption ready. This includes spay/neuter, micro-chipping, vaccinations, de-worming, heartworm prevention, flea-tick prevention, etc.  Your contributions have also allowed us to provide emergency treatment to animals struck by vehicles, care for litters of newborn kittens and puppies dropped at our door with no nursing mother and treat countless animals with special or extensive veterinary needs.

Saint Frances Animal Center has become a low cost veterinary resource in our community, providing veterinary care to pets of pet parents who may not otherwise seek veterinary care due to high costs.  As you are aware, drug and pharmacy costs have risen sharply in recent years.  We’ve yet to see an animal come to our center that has health insurance!  With the additional animals received from Hurricane Matthew, our resources have been stretched.

Saint Frances Animal Center is your community shelter.  You’ve helped our veterinary staff touch the lives of hundreds of animals - whether it be a routine exam, extensive specialty care or getting an animal ready for its forever home.  You’ve made a difference for animals like Chance.  Chance was brought to us by animal control because of his horrible living conditions and starvation, weighing only 40 pounds. Chance needs costly diagnostic tests and medications to get him on the road to wellness.  Your gift is extremely important as it provides immediate resources that are directed to the animals’ current needs.

We exist to serve you as pet owner and animal lover.  Please consider a gift to help them.  Our veterinarian, vet techs and staff who work so hard to provide love and care to the dogs and cats that come to our center join me in thanking you for your generous support.  You are their hope.
