Support Tribal radio!

Donation protected
On December 9, 2008 the Coeur d'Alene Tribe was awarded a construction permit to begin constructing KWIS Radio Station. On October 1, 2010 we were awarded a PTFP grant to construct the tower and purchase the Station equipment. KWIS went on air on January 27, 2012 and has been on the air 24 hours per day, 7 days a week since then.

Who is KWIS?
KWIS is a full power, non-commercial educational FM community radio station that is owned and operated by the Coeur d'Alene Tribe. We are dedicated to preserving the Culture, Language and History of Coeur d’Alene Tribe. We broadcast on the Coeur d'Alene Indian Reservation and surrounding communities. With streaming service, we have the ability to reach anyone with internet service.

KWIS offers the community access to public outreach,  training, preservation of the Coeur d'Alene language and history, a local source of emergency  notifications and a real-time conduit for public service announcements.

Currently KWIS has 2 employees that wear many hats.  We have a full time Station Manager and part time Community Outreach Coordinator that also do the work of a Traffic Director, Music Director, Announcer (DJ), Production team, Programming, Fundraising, Promotions and much more.

We are seeking the support of our listeners and all local supporters to help KWIS continue to offer valuable services to its listenership.

Why support us?
KWIS provides a unique value to ourlisteners and supporters that other stations can't. We are invested in particulars such as promoting the Culture and Language of the Coeur d'Alene Tribe. We serve as microphones for our local community and region, fulfilling the promise of media that serves all of the public.  If consideration and understanding of community radio’s role is lost, public media will lose a part of its soul. With our deeply rooted, local orientation, diversity of talent and commitment to opening our microphones to a rich chorus of voices, KWIS helps distinguish public media from all the rest.

How can you help?
Our fundraising goal is $30,000. That will cover the cost of utilities, maintenance and repair of station equipment, land rental for the radio tower, licenses and fees.  ANY donation, large or small, helps KWIS to bridge the gaps between Native and non-Native communities by educating and enhancing Cultural awareness through our programming and affiliated content.

Donation Gifts:
For any donation of $50 or more we will send you a KWIS T-Shirt and for any donation of $100 or more we will send you a KWIS Sweatshirt, as our way of saying Lim Lemtsh (Thank You) for your support!

All donors will  be displayed on our webpage !
