Jason Rowley is a lot of things: Father, husband, brother, friend, coder, cross-fitter, gardener, sarcasm machine, Sheffield Wednesday supporter -- not to mention he’s a freaking genius. Jason also has the British, stiff upper lip thing down pat, so he won’t ask for help -- but luckily I don’t have that problem.

Last week, Jason was diagnosed with a brain tumor (Glioma GBM). He will need to undergo surgery to determine the severity of the tumor and to devise a recovery plan. As of now, he is scheduled to have surgery on Friday, July 15, at University of Maryland Medical Center. It was completely sudden and shocking for Jason and his family (Kara, Corbin and Jack) and they are going to need all of our love and support.

We can help Kara and Jason focus on what’s important by donating here. The funds will be used to help the family and to start a college fund for the boys. Please keep Jason in your thoughts and be generous, every little bit helps.

Note from Kara, "As the dust settles, I’d like to thank everyone for your support. It’s meant so much to our little family! We are back to work and school and taking things step by step, keeping busy but not hectic. The house feels empty on our family-at-home days."

Hi everyone,

For folks unable to attend the services, here's a website to leave Jason stories:

https://www.forevermissed.com/jason-rowley

The service is at Saturday 9/29, 3pm
Evans Funeral Chapel and Cremation Services
3 Newport Dr, Forest Hill, MD 21050

In lieu of flowers, donations can be made in Jason‘s name to the Kaufman Cancer Center at Upper Chesapeake - https://www.uchfoundation.org/partnerships/chesapeake-cancer-alliance/ .

We’d like to ask people if they could to bring a note, either handwritten or typed, with a story or memory about Jason. I will be making a scrapbook for myself and the kids.

I would like to take a moment to recognize Dan for his love and commitment to organizing this fund and for making sure we all had the latest updates on Jason over these past 26 months. Dan, I know this journey has been exceptionally difficult for you to watch unfold and I know today your heart is shattered. I pray that all the fond memories you hold near and dear will one day make room for smiles and a few chuckles, as you remember this very special friend. My love to both you and Renee....

Jason and Kara, What do you need to make the trips to NC easier? A driver? Hotel points? Lunch baskets? House/pet/child sitting? Starbuck's? I was astounded to learn how much chemotherapy has advanced in the last two decades. People used to opt out of chemo because they were afraid the treatment would kill them sooner than the malignancy. But it seems they are now able to really to tailor the treatment to the tumor type, and reduce the negative side effects somewhat. I hope your experience is as comfortable as possible, and that your tumor dissolves completely.
