Ron Starke's Road to Recovery

Ron Starke, was critically injured in a motorcycle accident when he was hit by a drunk driver on Sunday, March 13, 2016 on his way home from work.

Luckily for Ron, a nurse was one of the first on the scene and with the help of another person was able to apply a tourniquet to his leg preventing him from bleeding to death. Unfortunately, they were not able to save his leg during the ten hour surgery they performed when he was brought by ambulance to Stony Brook University Hospital. Since Sunday, he has had more surgery to put screws in his pelvis, which was shattered in the accident. His condition is still critical but improving and he will be undergoing more surgery this week.
The outpouring of support from family, friends and the community has been tremendous. Many of us have expressed the feeling of helplessness. This has prompted the creation of this campaign to raise money which the family will need to get through the next several months and possibly years of recovery and rehabilitation.
Ron is the sole proprietor and operator of ThunderBikesLI of Port Jefferson and is currently counting on friends and colleagues that have volunteered to help keep the store open.
Your donations, along with your prayers and well wishes, will help support Ron and his family through this most difficult time. It will provide things he will need as he recuperates and adapts to his new physically challenging surroundings, by allowing them to afford the proper therapy, equipment and alterations, as needed.
