My name is Lesa Ripka and I am a teacher at a Title I school in Brevard County; this means that a high percentage of my students come from low-income familes. Last year, I spent at least two thousand dollars of my own money in order to provide for my students. I didn’t mind it; those 44 students were my babies and they worked hard for me.

I have spent the last week buying folders, highlighters, pencils, scissors, rules, and paper. This year, I am teaching math, science, and social studies to two classes; so I will have anywhere from 42-48 students. If you can donate- awesome! If not, I completely understand. If you’re looking for a good cause to donate to, you’ve found it.

I specifically sought out a Title I School because I want to truly make a difference. I want my students to buy in to their education. I want to challenge my students to achieve more and strive to reach their personal best. I want students to love science and not fear math. I want my students to get jazzed up about history. I know I can get my students to do all of this because I am passionate about what I do. I love making learning fun.

I know I’ll still spend a lot of my own money. The truth is, I enjoy investing in their learning. Please do not feel any pressure to donate. I am a very resourceful person and I can make do with whatever resources I have.  The money I raise from this site will be used as outlined below:
