Our Dad, Richard is the greatest man we know.
He is honest, hardworking and aways the first to lend a hand to anyone in need. He is loved by so many and this has become overwhelmingly apparent the last few weeks.
A few weeks ago his world turned upside down.
Dad went to the Dr for a ringing in his ear, what happened then has been a whirlwind.
They found a tumor in his brain, it was huge, 5 x 5 x 3cm.
They sent him for scans and tests and more scans before deciding they could operate.
They managed to remove between 80% and 90%.
Dad didnt come out of surgery real well and spent 12 days in ICU. Most of it sedated and connected to so many machines. Day by day he got stronger and those lines and machines were removed.
The ICU Staff at Macquarie University Hospital, The Surgeon, Neurologist, Nurses and Physio's have all been so supportive and amazing during such a tough time.
We cannot Thank them enough for the care they gave us and Dad.
A few days ago we recieved news that the tumor is a rather nasty one. A grade 4 Glioblastoma. Dad has a fight on his hands. First step is Chemo and Radiation.
He is worried about the already mounting bills and has sent Mum back to work, even though he really needs her by his side. He never wants to trouble anyone.
Tomorrow Friday 2.9, Dad is coming home. He begins Radiation in just a week. Hardly enough time to recover from the surgery, he will need help at home.
My brothers and I would love nothing more than my Mum to be by his side as he faces this fight.
Worried about medical bills already, and people calling and asking if there is anything they can do has inspired us to start this fund.
We appreciate all the calls, messages, cards, hugs and offers of help getting Dad to and from treatment in coming months.
What would really help them right now is taking their mind off some of these bills.
