Please help Rick fight cancer for a SECOND time!
Last year Rick was diagnosed with Stage 3 colon cancer. The doctors said there was a good chance to treat and cure it and he did all the medically recommended treatment, had surgery to remove the cancer and endured six months of chemotherapy. The scans after treatment was finished were clear and after the six months of chemotherapy he was more than excited to get his life back on track.
Having played guitar since he was 9-years-old and been in numerous local band projects, he was excited to start up some music projects and got two bands started. He bought a house and moved to West Columbia, after his home got broken into in Red Bank. After paying thousands in medical bills, exhausting his savings, he made a much needed employment change and accepted an IT position as a contractor in Aiken. Now he was ready to do the things he likes to do again, like playing music, going fishing for catfish, planting a large kitchen garden for the spring, and goofing off with his dogs!
Things were looking up until a MRI scan in February and following biopsy showed that the cancer had come back. Scans showed two rapidly growing cancerous spots on his liver. Now he is battling Stage 4 cancer. Surgery was scheduled as soon as possible, April 4th.
Now, facing another round of surgery and chemotherapy, his savings are dry and he will be facing an additional series of medical bills and regular life bills. He is not yet eligible for benefits with his new employment so he is also facing an unpaid leave of absence of 4-6 weeks.
