RSD Book Day

$5,037 of $5,000 goal

Raised by 84 people in 54 months
RSD Book Day is an organization founded by 2 Reading School District Alumni, Amy Seiders Kline and Sara Richter Cosentino,  in an effort to put a book in the hands of current Reading School District students who may not otherwise own or read one. The idea came about after Amy and Sara participated in an international organization, World Book Night, whose goal and purpose was to deliver 1 million books to light and non-readers. They both chose RSD as their destination and were incredibly moved by the genuine appreciation of the recipients. Sadly, the World Book Night organization is now on hold, but, with your help, we can keep the spirit alive, on a much smaller scale.

We know that the right book at the right time in the right hands can shape the life of a person. Our goal is to help shape the lives of 20 kids in each of the 4 levels of schools in the Reading School District. We are accepting monetary donations in order to make this happen. Every dollar we raise will go directly towards the purchase of books.

Happy Giving Tuesday! We hope you'll consider donating to our little project that helps kids in the Reading School District become lifelong readers. We are still about $400 short of our goal! Please help us reach our goal by donating whatever you can. Your donations make it possible for us to buy books for 150 students throughout the district, and will put a smile on all those faces.
And with that, we give you our second book announcement...

Announcing another childhood favorite of ours! The Tale of Peter Rabbit by Beatrix Potter.

The quintessential cautionary tale, Peter Rabbit warns naughty children about the grave consequences of misbehaving. When Mrs. Rabbit beseeches her four furry children not to go into Mr. McGregor's garden, the impish Peter naturally takes this as an open invitation to create mischief. He quickly gets in over his head, when he is spotted by farmer McGregor himself. Any child with a spark of sass will find Peter's adventures remarkably familiar. And they'll see in Flopsy, Mopsy, and Cotton-tail that bane of their existence: the "good" sibling who always does the right thing. One earns bread and milk and blackberries for supper, while the obstinate folly of the other warrants medicine and an early bedtime.

This wonderful book is available for sponsorship for $69.75

Friends, we are in full planning mode! We have the first book to announce, but first, a plea...
We are, at this point, $600 short of being able to provide books this year! Please, if you've helped us in the past, consider helping again this year. If you haven't helped in the past, please, please consider making a donation to our cause. Every penny raised goes towards the purchase of books for light and non-readers in the Reading School District. Please help us turn light and non-readers into lifetime readers with your donation.
And now...the announcement!!
The 1st book being given at the elementary level is one of our childhood favorites! Amelia Bedelia by Peggy Parish
This book is available for sponsorship for $61.75!!!!!
From dressing the chicken to dusting the furniture, Amelia Bedelia does exactly what Mr. and Mrs. Rogers tell her. ...But somehow things never turn out quite right.
Please consider sponsoring this book that will amuse elementary school kids and have them roaring with laughter! And if sponsorship is too steep, we'll take a few dollars, too!
Thank you for your ongoing support!
Sara and Amy

Hello friends! We are excited to start our campaign for the third year! In the past 2 years, we were able to hand out books to 400 kids who might not otherwise read one. This year we hope to be able to hand out 250 books. We can only do that with your help. We are again seeking monetary donations to support our cause. Every dollar you donate goes directly toward the purchase of books for kids in the Reading School District. Your name will appear in the front cover of the books you help purchase and the kids will know that you cared enough to share the gift of reading.

We will be deciding on books and schools in the coming weeks, but in the meantime, here's a refresher on what we're all about...
