Project 613 is Congregation Etz Chaim's initiative to restore a 200 year old Torah scroll discovered in Prague, where it was hidden during the Holocaust. The scroll suffered significant damage, but it managed to survive. It is a rare and precious remnant of a community destroyed by the war.
The 613th commandment in the Bible (Deuteronomy 31:19) states, "Write for yourselves this song and teach it to the children of Israel." This is a commandment to write the Five Books of Moses and to give life to the Word.
We need your help to do this work. It costs as little as $1 per letter to restore the Torah. Restoration involves a methodical, time consuming process delicately orchestrated by a professional sofer (scribe).
Help us bring this precious scroll back to life. We can reconstruct its history and join it with our future.
Congregation Etz Chaim is a 501c3. All donations are tax deductible. Go Fund Me provides all donors with a receipt via email. Project 613 will apply your donations towards restoration of the scroll and educational programs.
