Please Pray for Joe and a Miracle

Donation protected
Do you believe in miracles? I do, please join me in praying for one for Joe.

On September 5th my fiance Joe was admitted to the ICU at Vassar Brother Hospital in critical condition with heart failure. At first we didn't know how serious his condition was, his heart was only working at 25%. He has a blood clot in his heart and had a blood clot in his left leg. The doctors can not pin point when his heart function started to decrease, all they could say is that it didn't happened immediately and it was over the course of time. At some point over the last few weeks or even months Joe was exposed to a viral virus            ( influenza ).

I can remember hearing on the news almost every flu season someone dying from influenza and I never really understood how someone could die from the flu. Unfortunately now I understand all too well how the flu can take a life.

The doctors said that the virus attacked his heart and lungs. That made Joe's heart over work to fight the virus. Over the course of time his heart grew tried and started to decrease in function. We had no idea any of this was happening because the symptoms came on like the flu or a really bad cold. They would come and go. The week before he ended up in ICU he started having trouble breathing and night and couldn't fall a sleep. He felt run down and assumed he was getting sick with another cold. Looking back on it all I wish he would of went sooner, it wasn't until he starting coughing up blood did we realize this wasn't just a cold and he needed to go to the ER.

On September 6th Joe had to have emergency surgery. He lost the pulse in his leg. They had to remove blood clots in his left leg, stomach and groan. This was a high risk surgery and they weren't sure his heart could handle it, but by the grace of God he made it through.

On September 7th they removed his breathing tube and we were hopefully that we may see some improvement in his heart. The days following there has been one set back after another. He had to have the breathing tube put back in because his lungs kept filling with fluid and he was struggling to breath.

In the early morning hours of September 10th he went into organ failure and his heart stopped and needed to be shocked. This was the second time I was advised he may not survive. This was going to be the last effort to try to treat the organ failure with medications. If the medications failed they would have to do surgery to put his heart and lungs on a machine that would keep his heart pumping and lungs breathing. I'm so very thankful because the medication was successful and his organs started to work again. Both his liver and kidneys are now damaged but they can recover over time.

He was able to stay critical stable until yesterday when his blood pressure kept dropping dangerously low and then sky rocking high.

This is going to be a long road and I don't know the outcome. Each day is a blessing to have him still here with us and it gives me hope for tomorrow. At this stage it is day by day and all we can do is hope for a good day with no decline.

I pray for his recovery and believe in miracles. I know I have to take it day by day but I also have to think of my children and their needs.

Joe is the sole provider for me and our two children. Anastasia is 33 months old and Joseph is 23 months old. We live pay check to pay check and have no savings account. While Joe is fighting for his life in the hospital, I need to find a way to support our children. I'm currently looking for employment. Any donations made will be used for our living expenses and the kids needs.
