I wish I had better news to report, but unfortunately, I do not.
Cheannie has lost some of her mental capacity. She also cannot walk without the help of a walker. Even with the walker, she is still very unsteady and moves very slowly.
She has a great need for inpatient physical therapy, but unfortunately, no facility in Texas will accept her without payment of her $6500 insurance deductible in advance. Additionally, it is not certain that she will qualify for Medicaid or assistance in the state of Texas.
As all of you know, Cheannie is a born and raised California girl. Her family has researched her options if she were to move back to California and stay with family until she has fully recovered. The good news is that she would easily qualify for Medicaid and other assistance in California. Thus, she would be able to get all of the help that she needs to make sure she comes back to as close to 100% normal as possible.
So our need is greater than ever. This is going to be a long road ahead for Cheannie and I am sure you join me in being thankful that she will be surrounded with love and care with her family and all of her friends in California.
However, there are flights, moving costs, financial and legal matters to settle in Texas, and expenses that need to be covered in California until she is approved for Medicaid, which usually takes 30-45 for approval.
So, to all of you who have contributed thus far, I'm asking you again to circulate this page to all of your friends and acquaintances, whether they know Cheannie or not. And if you can manage any additional contributions on your part, it would be greatly appreciated. As always, your thoughts and prayers are so appreciated and we ask that you continue those until Cheannie is fully recovered.
