Pierre O’Neal, 31 was shot during an altercation in the Brentwood area of Victorville on Friday, October 3rd. The circumstances of this shooting leading to the death of O’Neal are still not completely clear to his loved ones. His fiancée, that is also the mother of his children wanted to make it clear that house on Paddock Road and Reno Loop North that he was shot at was at the house of acquaintances, a place he had been to before to record the music he loved so much. “He was looking to provide for his growing family through the entertainment industry and would go there to record,” said his mother.
The family does not have details regarding what happened, all they can share is what they know of O’Neal and what little they know of the circumstances. “He did not just go there, he had been over there for hours,” said fiance Alana Herring. They feel that he was painted to be a monster when in their eyes he was a loving father, son and friend, with four beautiful children. His fiance, is also now 6 months pregnant with his fifth child as she mourns the loss while comforting their children.
O’Neal was the father of four children, 2 girls and 2 boys, ages 9 years old, 8 years old, 5 years old and 4 years old. “His sister’s husband recently died in a tragic accident and he was helping take care of her children,” said Herring. His sister, suffered the recent loss of her husband also in Victorville, just months ago, while pregnant and has since given birth. She feels that between the loss of her husband and now her brother, this is the worst year of her life.
His mother, who held a usually steady voice showing some emotion, but also a strength and passion for others. She now believes she has a mission, for all other mothers or family members who loose a loved one. “As mothers, regardless of color, or anything else, we all want the same thing. If our child passes, we should have a right to see them, to hold them,” she said. Speaking with her on Tuesday, she had still be yet to view the body of her deceased son.
According to the mother of O’Neil, she really just wants to have laws or hospital protocol changed to protect the human rights of family. She does not blame them, she knows there are rules, but she is willing to work to help get those changed. When asked why they would not let her see her son she said they called the body of her loved one a “crime scene”. “I sat in the waiting room for 2 ½ -3 hours, with no comfort, all alone. I thought hospital staff would have cared enough to see what I was going through and console me, but there was no one there,” she said with her mostly strong voice cracking a bit in emotion.
Her son died at Arrowhead Regional Hospital, she is unsure about the time of death, there is not much being shared with her or his fiance, the mother of his children. “No other human, should ever lose what should be their basic human rights,” she expressed. “We have great police and investigators to work it all out and find out what happened, I have confidence they will do that.” She understands that the hospitals do have protocol. She just wants to see if there is any way to express how it hurts, hoping that no other mother will ever have to go through something so difficult, especially after the loss of a child.
We were unable to get a statement from Arrowhead Regional Hospital at this time. The incident is still under investigation, it is unknown if any arrests have been made at this time.
