Hello! My name is Paula McCammon and this is my daughter, Emma Rose. Between the ages of sixteen and twenty-four, I suffered from a virus that damaged my heart. At twenty-four years old, I underwent my first heart transplant.
On March 17, 2015, I was admitted to the hospital with what I thought were stomach pains and found that I had suffered from a heart attack. As a result, one valve is completely blocked and a stent has been inserted in each of the others. My transplanted heart is currently working at 30% and I have an aortic aneurysm pressing up against my breast bone. My cardiologist says the only way I will survive is by:
1) Having another heart transplant while
2) Repairing the aneurysm at the same time.
This is a rare and extremely high-risk procedure.
My family and I, are in search of the best possible outcome for my life with Emma. This means we need to travel to other states to find the best possible surgeons to help us... And we are in need of help from our friends and communities to make this happen.
