In Loving Memory of Patrick Cooney

The Cooney family has always been known for bringing joy to everyone around them. Patrick Cooney was known for spreading this joy through his laughter and love for music.
In 1996, at the age of four, Patrick was diagnosed with Acute Lymphoblastic Leukemia. In 2000, Patrick relapsed and went through two more years of chemotherapy. Patrick remained strong and always kept a smile on his face. He graduated high school from Mount Saint Charles Acacdemy where his father, Greg Cooney, was the beloved choir teacher. In June 2014, Greg Cooney was laid off after 15 years of dedicated work. Many Mounties were shocked by this news. Just a few weeks later, Patrick was disagnosed with T-cell Lymphoma after almost 15 years of remission. This marked his third battle with cancer. Patrick fought hard, enduring chemotherapy, full-body radiation, and received a bone marrow/stem cell transplant in September. Then in February 2015, Patrick relapsed.
Despite his long battle with cancer, Patrick was known to always have a smile on his face and a genuine heart. On April 23, 2015, twenty-three year old Patrick Cooney peacefully passed away. He was surrounded by his loved ones.
The Cooney’s have blessed many of our lives with years of laughter, love, and happiness. Now it is our time as a community to give back to this lovely family. In memory of Patrick, we invite friends and family to contribute to this gift in any way they are able. All funds raised will be given to the Cooney family.
