Partakers Special Audiences Program

Partakers College Behind Bars Mentoring Program  is  small, unique, not for profit organization based in Newton,MA celebrating over 20 years of "transforming lives and building futures".

Partakers is working to help reduce recidivism by promoting higher education and providing community mentoring for incarcerated women and men. Through our College Behind Bars Mentoring Program, Partakers profoundly impacts the lives of our students, their mentors, their families, and their community. Partakers teams with more than 30 organizations that include over 550 community volunteers from The Greater Boston Area who are currently mentoring our students. Students who have graduated from the Partakers College Behind Bars Program show a 2% recidivism rate compared with an average national rate of 68%.  Partakers  is helping to build futures of hope, while changing the path of so many that otherwise would never have the opportunity to realize their potential.

Partakers has been chosen as a Community Partner by the Longwood Symphony Orchestra, and their Healing Art of Music Program, for a special evening of music and celebration at New England Conservatory's Jordan Hall on March 9, 2019. The mission of Longwood Symphony Orchestra, the orchestra of Boston's medical community, is to perform concerts of musical diversity and excellence while supporting health-related nonprofit organizations through public performances. We are so proud to have been chosen by the LSO to introduce their audience to our work.

Partakers has  invited two very special groups to share the evening with us:

*City Strings United founded in 2012 on the belief that access to high-quality youth programs can create positive change in economically-strained communities and foster the social, emotional and educational development of its youth. City Strings United provides free cello lessons and unique performance opportunities to six through eighteen-year-old students primarily from urban Boston. But CSU teaches much more than musical skills. They focus on discipline, teamwork, respect, listening and accountability - all attributes that they nurture to develop the whole child.

*Boston Healthcare for the Homeless Since 1985, BHCHP's mission has remained the same: to provide or assure access to the highest quality health care for all homeless men, women and children in the greater Boston area. They believe it has been and continues to be medicine that matters: Dedicated clinical and non-clinical staff share their passion for a vibrant mission and support each other in bringing the mission alive. Shelter partners benefit from BHCHP's medical expertise while focusing on their core mission, avoiding wasteful duplication of services. Boston's many hospitals can depend on BHCHP as an alternative to the emergency room as well as a safe discharge location for medically vulnerable patients.
BHCHP's targeted, compassionate management of limited resources yields everyday successes that are a living tribute to the ideals of a just society.

Your Generous Donation will cover the cost of the tickets that we donate to these wonderful groups to share with their students and patients to attend the concert with the Longwood Symphony.
