Parkrose Community Class

Hello!

My name is Zachary Melzer and I'm a teacher at Parkrose High School.  I run a class called Parkrose Community. The class is a continuation of our former alt-ed program and focuses on creating an inviting home environment for students who are struggling but committed to school.

One of the larger parts of the class is a service learning opportunity known as the Homeless Project. This project is into its third decade, having been a long time staple of the former alt-ed program. We collect clothing and hygiene products to donate personal bags as well as decorate for the holidays our partner homeless shelters in downtown Portland, OR.

As you can see it can be a large undertaking and the funds from this GoFundMe campaign not only help pay for activities and community building within the class, but also help supplement supplies and missing hygiene products for our homeless project. Your donations help continue a long standing opportunity for students, many who know all too well the struggles of poverty, to be a helping hand to those who struggle for access to health, hygiene, and clothing.
