Panthers Committed to the Cause

Passaic Students in Action are student leaders that positively impact their communities and communities around the world. Last year, our SIA worked with the Embrace Relief Organization to fundraise $2,500 for 2 orphanages in Haiti. These students also visited these orphanages and were able to interact with the children and experience a day in their lives.

This year, our SIA will be traveling to Santiago, Dominican Republic to visit the Children’s Village Santiago de los Caballeros. Currently, SIA is working towards raising funds for children in this orphanage in order to bring them care packages, along with clothing items, toys, and medical supplies.


SOS Children's Village Santiago de los Caballeros began its work in 2003, making it our most recent program in the Dominican Republic. For children from the region who are no longer able to live with their parents, 15 SOS families can provide a loving home. In each family, they live with their brothers and sisters and are affectionately cared for by their SOS mother.
When young people feel ready to move out of their SOS home in order to pursue further education or vocational training, the SOS Youth Program makes shared accommodation available to them in Santiago. In a safe environment and with the support of qualified counselors, they can plan their future here, increasingly take on responsibility and prepare for independent adult life.
