After a brief illness, Bob O'Rourke passed away on Monday, November 19. The very next day, his wife Kim was admitted to the hospital with severe abdominal pain, and went into surgery where they found her colon had perforated. Though it was touch and go for the first 72 hours, the good news is that Kim has been "downgraded" out of the ICU and is in a regular room.
This has been a heartbreaking time, with the family uncertain about funeral plans for Bob while Kim is still so very ill.
The overwhelm and stress takes a toll. There will be the funeral expenses for Bob and ongoing care and nursing for Kim. Signe's sole role has been caregiving and the bills and expenses will inevitably mount up.
This page is being done in the hope that the literally thousands of lives this family has touched will gather together to help and give Kim the peace of mind that will help her heal.
The purpose of this Go Fund Me page is to raise funds and provide updates. If or when it is needed, a Caring Bridge page will go up so those interested can help with providing meals, housework, running errands, and generally ensure the family is cared for while they focus on their grief and their healing.
There will be a Rosary said for Bob this Thursday, December 6 at Todd Memorial Chapel, at 6:30 pm. 570 N. Garey Avenue, Pomona.
The funeral Mass will be Friday, Dec. 7 at St. Louise de Marillac, 1720 E. Covina Blvd., Covina, at 11:00 am.
A Celebration of Life for Bob will be planned for a time when Kim will be able to take part.
