As you may know, I am turning 21 on September 16th. This year I have decided that I wanted to do something different and meaningful for my birthday which is why I am kicking off a fundraising campaign for Chai Lifeline.
Chai Lifeline is the international children's health support organization that provides crucial emotional, social, and financial assistance to seriously ill children, their families, and communities. Chai Lifeline's free, year-round programs and services bring hope to children's lives and allow each member of the family to cope with the crises and daily challenges of pediatric illnesses. Chai Lifeline's diverse offerings include art therapy, counseling, family retreats, recreational and social programming, crisis intervention, sibling programs, insurance support, family days and holiday parties.
Chai Lifeline's largest programs are Camp Simcha and Camp Simcha Special, medically supervised overnight summer camps that offer very sick children the chance to have an extraordinary summer experience. Children and teens who are too ill to attend camp can trade hospital beds for cabins and nursing care for counselors. Both camps offer a complete camp program that encourages the development of self-esteem and gives kids the courage to continue to wage brave battles against cancer and other illnesses.
