Hace más de un mes, Nicole Moreno fue diagnosticada con Leucemia Promielocitica aguda. Nicole es madre de Matías de 4 años y Nabil de 1 año.
El 13 de Enero, mientras se encontraba en la ferretería donde ella trabajaba, comenzó a sentirse muy débil. Nicole se dirigió al hospital nuevamente donde le informaron que estaba sufriendo de una hemorragia. Estuvo hospitalizada durante tres días luchando entre la vida y la muerte. Se aferró a su vida por sus hijos y su familia. En vista de que no mejoraba y sin un hematólogo en ese hospital, la trasladaron a otra ciudad donde por fin la diagnosticaron de leucemia después de un examen de médula ósea.
Hoy se encuentra en otra ciudad, lejos de su familia y luchando contra un enfermedad que ha cambiado la vida de ella y de todos sus seres queridos. Este tipo de leucemia es curable si cumple con el tratamiento, quimioterapia y otro tipo de quimio oral. Desafortunadamente, el medicamento que es la cura para su enfermedad, es muy costoso porque deben traerlo de otros países. Además, va a necesitar tomarlo durante un largo tiempo (al menos dos años). Cada paquete de pastillas cuesta $800 y debe consumirlo cada 15 días. Se podrían imaginar el estrés que la incertidumbre financiera deber causar a su familia.
Pocos tienen la suerte de tener amigos de toda la vida. Hemos crecido con Nicole y sabemos que es una persona con un espíritu fuerte y bondadoso. Sus hijos la necesitan y preguntan por ella todos los dias. Ayúdennos a salvar la vida de esta madre, hija y hermana para que pueda regresar junto a su familia. More than a month ago, Nicole was diagnosed with AML (Acute Myeloid Leukemia. She is the young mother of Matias (4 years old) and Nabil (1 year old).
On January 13th, while at work, Nicole started feeling very weak. She went back to the hospital where she was told that she was suffering from a hemorrhage. After being hospitalized for three days fighting for her life, she was able to make it through the hemorrhage. Nicole was transferred to another hospital in a different city due to the lack of specialty doctors in the area. In the other hospital, she was finally given a leukemia diagnosis after a bone narrow exam.
At this very moment, Nicole is away from her children fighting against a disease that has changed her life forever. This type of leukemia is curable with the right treatment, chemotherapy and medication. Unfortunately, the medication needed is expensive because it has to be imported and has to be taken for a long time (at least for two years). Each pack of pills costs $800 and lasts for 15 days. You can only imagine the amount of stress that financial burden is causing her family.
Very few people have the privilege of having life long friends. We have grown up with Nicole and know she is a strong and giving person. Her children, family and loved ones need her. Her children ask for their mother every day. Please help us save our friend’s life.
