Cooling Unit for Food Pantry Truck

The New Hope Food Pantry has bee serving the seniors and disabled in our community since 2003. More recently, we have expanded our service to also meet the needs of hurting families. Currently we are serving over 100 households per week with overstock and date-sensitive donated food from two, local Food Lions and our local Sam's club. We pick up and store this food in our cold box truck seven days a week. Unfortunately, our truck is a 2008 Dodge Ram 3500 dually diesel with a  cold box on the back cooled with a 1998 Thermo King refrigeration unit. The refrigeration unit is buckling under the intense use. We have spent $5,000 in repairs, but it continues to have new break downs literally weekly. Our church meets in a tent with a small, active congregation of 45. We have used all our money trying to keep the refrigeration unit running. Thermo King has told us we need a new unit. The old units are not designed for constant use, but the new ones are. Our pantry shoppers depend on this food and tell us they wouldn't make it without it. We are in desparate need for donations for a new cooling unit so we may continue to pick up the food (a cold box truck is mandatory for pick up, and we are the only pantry in our vicinity that has one).  The need is immediate, especially as the summer months are upon us. This is the most important piece of the pantry as it keeps the food safely cooled.
