Nepal Earthquake Relief Campaign │ GPE Nepal Project 2017
Yesterday marked the two-year anniversary of Nepal's devastating earthquake of 2015. The 7.8 magnitude earthquake violently shook Nepal on April 25, 2015, leaving more than 10,000 people dead and thousands more injured. Nepal suffered from 120 aftershocks following the original earthquake, the worst reaching a magnitude of 7.3. It sent buildings crumbling, leaving countless families homeless. Two years following a catastrophic earthquake, Nepal is still cleaning up from the disaster that killed thousands of people and destroyed cities. The response to rebuild has reportedly been slow. As the Nepali Times reports, both the Nepalese government and non-government organizations have struggled to get promised funds to rural towns across Nepal. Despite the billions pledged, the majority of Nepalese affected by the earthquake still don't have proper housing.
I am reaching out to you all asking for a donation that will go 100% towards buying food, clothes, medicines, and building materials for the Nepal Earthquake Victims. NO DONATION IS TOO SMALL, and EVERY CENT counts!
Our initial goal is to raise $5,000 by June, but obviously the more the better! This summer Global Peace Exchange will be sending four students from Florida State University and two students from Birmingham-Southern College to Nepal to continue Nepal Development Project that was first started in 2012. Upon arrival in Nepal, they will be working directly with local people and local non-profit organizations to complete our goal effectively, and doing that we will be able to reach out to the real victims of the earthquake who need our help most.

We will be updating our project on our Global Peace Exchange Facebook page, and I will also personally send email updates (to all our contributors) once every two weeks, once GPE team arrive in Nepal. Our goal is to reach out to as many victims as possible and make a small difference - one at a time.

Please join me in making a difference. No amount is too small. A gift from the heart will go a long way. Dhanyabhad!! (Thank you in Nepali)

I am Saurav Bhandary- recently graduated from Birmingham-Southern College with a degree in Economics. I helped Co-found Global Peace Exchange at Birmingham-Southern College, and served as the Chapter President from 2013-2016. I also helped launch Global Peace Exchange Nepal Development Project on 2013. Every summer Global Peace Exchange sends a group of volunteers to a small village in Nepal for 8-12 weeks to participate in Nepal Development Project. In the past, the project consisted of teaching English to the local community, giving away more than 3,000 reusable bags and more than 40 concrete dustbins, and most importantly putting on a summer camp for a local kids with focus on Personal Hygiene, Environmental Sustainability, and Youth Empowerment. Global Peace Exchange was originally started at Florida State University on 2006, and since its inception over 100 volunteers have traveled to 8 different countries around the around. We have had projects in Rwanda, Nepal, Cambodia, Thailand, Ghana, Uganda, Moldova, and Guatemala.
