Nathan's Courageous Battle

It was 2011, when Nathan was 5, he would be diagnosed with Duchenne Muscular Dystrophy, a muscle wasting disease. It has already started affecting his hips and legs, will eventually affect his arms and neck, then take over involuntary muscles such as his lungs and heart. Nathan takes steroids and wears braces at night to prolong his walking abilities. 

A couple of weeks ago, his mom learned that he now has cancer, Rhabdomyosarcoma. Nathan will start chemotherapy on February 5th at Riley's Children's Hospital, two hours away from where they live. He will endure 42 weeks of chemotherapy, every week.  After 12 weeks, they will see if it has shrunk, if not, then a combination of radiation and chemo will ensue.

Over the past few years, his strength has been incredible, not to mention his mom's undying love and bravery in the face of the unknown. Nathan is now eight years old, a first grader at Riley Elementary School in Vincennes, Indiana, and a big brother to Isabella.
