NEW LIFE BUILDING FUND
She thought abortion was her only option. Moving to a new town hundreds of miles from home, starting her first year of college, and pregnant with a guy back home who she certainly didn’t see any future with, what was a girl to do? Before leaving home, she contacted New Life Clinic about setting up an appointment for the abortion. She had money in hand from her family encouraging it, but questions in her heart about whether this was the right decision for her.
The moment I received this potential client's first email, I asked friends and prayer partners of the Clinic to pray. I tried to keep an open mind that she would respond to my pleas to come and visit once arriving in Wilmington, although I was clear in telling her that we could not provide an abortion. Sure enough, within a few days of her arriving on campus, she did stop by the clinic to talk with a volunteer about her pregnancy and what options were available. That volunteer shared the truth of God’s word and prayed with her to have wisdom and to experience the love of Christ like never before. The very next morning she came back to NLC for an ultrasound. Seeing the baby’s heartbeat on the screen for the very first time brought tears to her eyes and a softening began to take place in her heart. She decided at that very moment that abortion would not be an option. She chose to give life to the new life inside her and trust that God would help in the process.
And help in the process He has! For several months now, the New Life Clinic has been privileged to share in the miracles taking place in this client’s life. She has gained a support group of peers who are walking through this pregnancy with her, and she is expecting a healthy baby boy in just two months!
This is just ONE of the many stories of New Life that we have witnessed first-hand at NLC. And for several years now, we’ve noted a significant increase in client numbers and certainly client needs. Last year alone, we served close to 1000 clients, providing 19 ultrasounds, 175 pregnancy tests, 3,389 Baby Bucks items and parenting classes for 30 new moms and dads.
In order to keep serving this community well and to respond to the growing number of individuals involved in crisis pregnancies (women AND men), we purchased a building in downtown Wilmington last summer with more space and the opportunity to expand programs and influence. It may not look like much, even thought to be condemned and not worth renovating for years, but the Board of Directors saw past that. They began to envision a place with new life breathed into it and God’s purpose for this property - for the ministry of the New Life Clinic, and for the people of Clinton County as well - began to take shape.
In order to meet the growing need and to further minister to the community through prevention efforts, we hope to move into our newly remodeled facility across from the courthouse in downtown Wilmington in the summer of 2015. Because of the Board’s commitment to move in debt-free and to practice good stewardship, this will ONLY happen as the money to fund this effort comes in.
We serve a God who can move mountains and who can certainly provide the last $90,000 needed to finish this project. I hope that you will consider how you can help bring NEW LIFE to downtown Wilmington. New life is coming and my God is one that can put new life in a young girl’s womb as well as give that same girl a new life of her own. I believe, along with the Board and Staff and Volunteers at New Life Clinic, that He desires to bring new life also to our community and that He will bring new life right to the heart of Clinton County by using individuals like you who want to be a part of this incredible ministry.
