New Women's Center in Martinsburg

Donation protected
The first intent of the Project is to bring people together for mutual support, and to learn everything we can about those hardest of the issues women face currently, then to solve the small problems that lead to big problems.

To help support individuals, assist them in furthering their own goals with creative problem solving, advocacy, peer counseling, and networking, and money, and to operate as needs arise, including but not limiting ourselves to being advocates as well as with direct actions such as assisting with bills, networking for help, groceries, school books, personal items, etc for those we feel we can help.

Everyone has a story, and every heart deserves a shot at dignity and the pursuit of happiness.
By creating a safe space for these activities, group support and education, classes in myriad subjects, and generating random acts of kindness; we can build a network of helpfulness that has the potential to be self-sustaining and a long lasting sanctuary and hub for the community.

It will ease some of the stress and pressure the current economic situation is having on the general population and the ongoing tribulations of the poor and the homeless, as well as a welcoming place for our veterans.

This set of ideas will facilitate the lessening of the loitering, pan-handling, and prostitution in the downtown area, and bring a little more harmony into the rich mix that is Martinsburg.

The first intent is to start an art-based workshop/daycamp where pay-what-you-can classes and a variety of support groups are held, as well as space for volunteers to come in and teach a class, make or finish items to trade for donations - part of those proceeds going to those workers pre-approved by the Project to receive help for help rendered.

Another portion of the proceeds will also go into the bigger plan of a women’s networking center for emergency provision and a larger workshop, with store-front space, and facilities for more classes, literacy programs, and support group spaces.

The ultimate goal through these means is to educate and empower people to create such a strong community that no one feels alone in their struggles, and no one lets anyone else struggle alone.
