“For this is the message you have heard from the beginning, that we should love one another.” We are called to love each other – each other – regardless of faith, gender identity, race, or ethnicity, Christians are called to embody the radically open love we in Jesus.
At Progressive Christians Uniting our mission is to embody Jesus’ way of compassion and justice for our world. We believe that our country needs to see a compassionate and just response to growing anti-Muslim bias. We need to publicly show our support for our Muslim siblings and oppose anti-Muslim bigotry by displaying solidarity banners at places of worship.
We are asking you to join us in the effort! Whether you are a person of faith or a person of conscience, you can support this campaign for interfaith solidarity. Depending on their size, banners range from $140-200. We plan to purchase and distribute as many as possible to progressive congregations in our network. Our fundraising goal of $10,000 will allow us to purchase 40 banners, organize churches on receiving them, and communicate on this act of solidarity with the larger public. More than ever, we need to affirm that our communities will not be divided by hate or acts of violence, and we will stand together in love and work toward a more inclusive society.
Banners are weatherproof vinyl and have mounting grommets for easy hanging or posting. There are three banner options:
· Honor God –Say No to anti-Muslim Bigotry
· We Stand with our Muslim neighbors, and
· [Organization Name] stands with our Muslim neighbors
The writer in 1st John encourages us to do more than love in just “word or speech” but to display their love in “truth and action.” We invite you to join us as we attempt to embody the way of compassion and justice and love boldly in truth and in action.
