Eighteen years ago, Jeanette LaFevers, Peggy Mott, Leanna Morse, Armando Madrigal, and Fermin Perez sought to bring the International Baccalaureate to McAllen, TX. Since then, Peggy Mott has become an institution at the IB Lamar Academy Program and has taught 16 generations of IB Lamar students.
Nine years ago, Peggy's best friend and long-time teaching colleague, Laurie Mohel, joined the IB Lamar team, and the DP Literature Department was complete.
Peggy and Laurie began their teaching careers together in Corpus Christi, and they will now retire together in McAllen, TX. They are inseparable, hilarious, tough, and loved by all who know them.
We, the IB Lamar Alumni, would like to honor these two incredible women by awarding their last class of students, the Pi Class, with two (update! Maybe 3) $1000 scholarships. We would also like to purchase a gift for them that will symbolize their time teaching in the IB Program and all of the students whose lives they have touched.
