Hip Hop for the Youth
Donation protected
Peace! This is a campaign to raise money for 300 young people to receive tickets to our performance of Mixtape at the Cowles Center, May 19-21 2017. As a group, we feel that this work is important for the youth to experience for many reasons. Some of these reasons are Hip Hop's relevance to many young people's everyday lives and this show is a bridge between generations. We do our work for them. This campaign is not only to pay for tickets, but to also finance transportation to the event. Please donate what you can to help us strengthen a connection to the next generation and to inspire them to become artists and powerful voices for Hip Hop culture!
Mixtape:
MIXTAPE is a collaboration of seven local artists whose differences in upbringing, generation, and relationship to “Hip Hop” have evoked important questions and dialogue around “What is Hip Hop?”. Through creating, sharing, and reclaiming space as a community belonging to different histories, we challenge the dominant narrative that has appropriated, commercialized, and corporatized “Hip Hop” culture.
Choreographers: Al Taw'am, Ozzy Dris, Herbert Johnson III, J-Sun, and Magnolia Yang Sao Yia
