Money for the SOS children's villages
Hi there,
My name is Nyawal, i'm a competing for the Miss Universe Canada 2014 beauty pageant in May this year. I am very excited to have been given this opportunity and blessing. I am currently preparing my self for the competition. As part of the competition, each delegate has to raise funds for a charity. This year my charity is the "SOS childrens villages"
About the charity:
In 133 countries, SOS Children's Villages provides abandoned, orphaned and vulnerable children with a caring, loving and secure family environment.
*A mother: SOS mothers are extensively trained local women who provide constant long-term care, love and support for five to ten children.
*Brothers and sisters: Children of different ages grow up together under the care of their SOS mother. Biological siblings are kept together to establish stable, reliable relationships.
*A Home: Each SOS family is given the security of a house they can call home. Children live according to their own culture and religion, enabling them to recognize and express their individual interests and talents.
*A Village: 10 to 12 house make up an SOS Children's Village, creating a stable, secure and supportive community environment.
Every SOS Children"˜s Village is a place that children can call home: children live as part of their own culture and religion, in a place where their needs for food, health, shelter and education are met. The SOS mother is essential to the life of children in our SOS Villages. She provides constant care, love and support for five to ten children.
These women, locally hired and extensively trained, provide children with more than a place to live; they provide a family. SOS Children"˜s Villages keeps families together through our Family Strengthening Programs, which help parents and their communities to protect and care for their children. Skills training and community development work help parents to become self-sufficient and prevent child abandonment.
SOS Children's Villages offers other programs that support families and children in need. And during times of global emergencies, we support those most affected. Through SOS Children"˜s Villages, kids who were alone and abandoned, or at risk of losing their families, have an opportunity to grow up safe and become self sufficient, better citizens and better parents. That leads to positive, lasting social change.
