Mika Needs Urgent Surgery!

Donation protected
I raised Mika as a hatchling from the incubator.  She is now 23-y-o and has never been sick a day in her life.  5 days ago when I uncovered her cage in the morning, she was lethargic with feathers fluffed and didn't want to eat.  Classic signs of a sick bird.  Birds hide illness, so by the time symptoms show, it is already serious.

I was able to get a ride from the island to the mainland (no qualified vets on the island) to take Mika to an avian vet.  Xrays showed a large egg that isn't passing.  It's unusual to have a first egg at age 23 but not unheard of.  (Macaws have a long life span, so 23 is still very young). The vet said she needed hospitization and possible surgery if the egg didn't pass in 24 hours.  They do not take payments and everything must be paid in full at time of service.  All I had was $518.  The emergency visit, xray, bloodwork and meds cost $504. which I paid.  But I didn't and still don't have the money for the hospitalization and surgery.  I had no choice but to bring her back home in such pain.

I am doing everything I possibly can to help Mika at home, she is in so much pain and it's heartbreaking.   The vet said (yesderday by phone) that the situation is now critical and life threatening if the egg is not surgically removed as soon as possible and associated damage repaired.  Everyday delayed is hurting Mika's chances for survival.  She is such a sweet and very loved girl!  Mika and my African Grey, Bayli are my only family.  I can't loose her!!!

(Note:  Mika calls herself "Bubble".  When she first came out of the incubator, my Grey (16 months older than Mika) was jealous and kept saying "here comes trouble".  Every time she was brought out of the incubator, Bayli called her "trouble".  By the time Mika was old enough to talk, she thought her name was "Trouble" but she couldn't pronounce it.  When I called her "Mika" she would answer back "Bubble!".  Bayli then started to call her "Bubble" too.  I kept calling her "Mika", but was out numbered by the two of them.  They won, and Mika is called "Bubble").

Any contribution to help pay for surgery and save Mika/Bubble's life would be appreciated MORE than I can possiblyy put into words.  Thank you so very much for reading her story and helping her.  Thank you <3
