On Sunday 17th July 2016, Stebbings and Twiggy said goodbye to the UK and headed East towards Ulan-Ude as part of the The Mongol Rally - an epic 10,000 mile journey. On Thursday 11th August 2016, their mighty Nissan Micra (The Soup NA51) rolled across the finish line after taking on every obstacle that was thrown at it!
As a condition of their entry, they must raise a MINIMUM of £1000 for charity, £500 of which must go to the official rally charity Cool Earth. The remaining amount (£500+) will be split between the other charities they have chosen: Alzheimer's Research UK and If U Care Share. The madness did not stop when they reached Ulan-Ude, however! Stebbings is currently driving the car back to Newcastle through Russia and the Arctic Circle. You can see where in the world he currently is using the links below, as well as finding out how they made it all the way to the finish line in the first place:- visit our website

If you're kind enough to contribute to our trip, tell us what you want your money to go towards in your comment (i.e. £100 donation - "£20 to Cool Earth , £30 for Alzheimer's , £30 for IUCS , and £20 to fill your tank in Iran"). Please note that the deadline for donations to our charities is FRIDAY 14TH OCTOBER 2016 - any donations received after this date will only go towards covering rally costs.
The reason we drove for the aforementioned charities (with the exception of Cool Earth) is because we've both been affected by the issues they support. Our grandparents suffered from Alzheimer's – similar to around 36% of the UK population who know a close friend or family member with dementia – and I see the effects of this horrendous condition on a daily basis in the care home that I work in. If U Care Share is a charity that was set-up in Great Lumley in 2005 to offer help through Prevention, Intervention and Support of those bereaved by suicide after Dean and Shirley's eldest son Dan committed suicide in their bathroom. I live a couple of doors up the street from them, and watched the whole tragedy unfold from my brother's bedroom window. Cool Earth is a charity which works alongside indigenous villagers to halt rainforest destruction. It is the official rally charity and each team must donate a minimum of £500 to this cause as part of the conditions of entry. Since its inception in 2004, the Mongol Rally have so far raised over £5.5 million to help save the worlds rainforests.

Also, for the technophobes out there (or people who don't like giving their card details online), we will gladly accept donations the good old-fashioned face-to-face way. If you want to help spread the word in the offline world, then feel free to download our poster and whip-up some donations:
