Mick Deaver is a 17 year old teenager whose one love is playing hockey.  Mick was living in Boston and living out his dream  and hopefully continuing on after he graduated from high school

On Friday, November 19, 2016 Mick was playing hockey on the road in New Jersey with his parents watching the game streaming one line. As Mick turned, to change directions, he lost the edge on one of his skates and started to fall. On his way to the ice, there was a player traveling the opposite direction. Mick's head came in contact (collided) with the other player's knee. The collision caused serious injury to Mick's (C5)spine. Mick has already undergone surgery and will need additional surgeries and medical attention as his prognosis is further evaluated.

Mick and his family will have a long road of recovery and medical expenses over the course of the next several months. Many people have inquired as to how they can help.  We have set up this gofundme, to help his family with expenses they will have over the course of the next several month.

The money donated from gofundme will help Shawn and Jennifer with expenses while they are in New Jersey, transporting him home after he is stable, physical therapy, and many other expenses.

As the parents of a teen Hockey player living away from home and watching a majority of his games online, I cannot fathom what your family is going through. Our families thoughts and prayers go out to Mick, his family, teammates and friends. Best wishes and positive thoughts for a full recovery so that Mick can find his home on the Ice again, soon.

I saw you on Scotty's YouTube channel. It was good to see that you were able to move all four limbs. My donation isn't much, but hopefully it will be part of a much larger pool that will help you and your parents with all of the costs involved with your care and travel. Keep fighting and we are all rooting for you man!. You'll be back on your feet and back on the ice in no time!

Just watched Scotty Cranmer update on Micks progress. We have been following Scotty for a while. My son Steele is a BMX fan and my daughter played Hockey at Cushing Academy near Boston. My wife and I decided to donate $100.00 each month of 2017 to a complete stranger in need . I know it's just a drop in the bucket but I hope it buys some SEE FOOD for Dad.Good luck with your future progress.

I knew Mick during his middle school career. He was the most polite and kindest young man on his middle school team. He was respectful to fellow students as well as adults. I have no doubt he is sharing that respect with everyone who is helping him on his road to recovery. Mick, you are a hero to me!!!!!
