Merrill Cemetery Damage Fund

$10,865 of $50,000 goal

Raised by 63 people in 11 months
Lastnight, hundreds of gravestones at the Merrill Memorial and St Francis Cemeteries were vandalized, including stones that were tipped over, smashed, and defaced. Some of the gravestones that were affected date back to the early 1800s and beyond. Since it is normally the families responsibility to fix these stones and the amount of damage is so extensive, I have decided to set up an account to raise money to help fix the gravestones that families can not afford to fix, or those who nobody is around to claim any longer. This event has shaken the community to its core and nobody understands how someone can commit such a ruthless act. We are asking for your help to raise money to give to the Merrill Memorial and St Francis Cemeteries to fund the repairs of those gravestones that family members do not claim or can not afford to repair. The damage here is extensive. *BREAKING 7/30 7:19PM DONOR PUTS UP $5,000 REWARD* *To put funds towards the reward, please donate with a note, stating that you wish for the funds to be set aside for the Reward fund. The reward donations will be held for 60 days. If nobody comes forward, they will default towards the repair costs. Please be aware, there is a standard credit card fee of 2.9% + $0.30 deducted from each donation.

I would like to start by thanking everyone who donated to the Merrill Memorial Fund, to help offset the costs of the senseless act of vandalism at the Merrill Memorial and St Francis Xavier Cemeteries.

Together, with your generosity and caring hearts, we were able to raise an amazing $10,366.70!

As of yesterday afternoon, both cemeteries have agreed, contrary to original plans of splitting the funds proportionately, to now split the funds 50/50! This means that both Cemeteries will be receiving a check today, in the amount of $5,183.35 each!

I would like to give a special thank you to Detective Pat Wunch and Reindl Printing, for their hard work and dedication in trying to help find those responsible for this cruel act of hatred. May those efforts still succeed in the near future.

I also believe that 2 groups deserve an extra special thank you, as they alone donated nearly 3/4 of this campaign total! I want to give a HUGE thank you, from the bottom of my heart, to Kurt & Kim Manthei (Florida), for putting up the $5,000 Reward (plus a $500 general donation!), both of which have now rolled into the donation fund, and Park City Credit Union who also put up $2,000! Your extreme generosity and community mindset have helped tremendously to make this campaign a huge success! Thank you so much!

I would also like to thank the following people for donating to the campaign.

You have also helped to make this campaign a major success, far beyond what I ever imagined we could have accomplished!
You have all helped to spread positivity thru-out this community, and have helped to once again to leave the fallen with the tribute and monuments that they deserve.

I can't thank you all enough.
Thank you SO MUCH!

I have decided to extend the deadline for collecting the reward money until the end of the month.
Please spread the word for someone to come forward over the next couple of days. If information that is presented, leads to an arrest, the reward money ($5,000 [+ up to $1,000 from Crimestoppers]) will be held until a conviction is or is not made.
If no new leads are presented by the end of the month, the donation will mix with the rest of the donations recieved, and will be presented to both cemeteries at a date in the near future.

I ask that you please help this campaign with one last burst of energy to raise some last minute funds for the cemeteries, by sharing this campaign with your friends and family.
You have all made a tremendous effort to help out already and it is greatly appreciated by the entire Community of Merrill!

Let's see what we can do with one last round of sharing this thing!
This will be my last request of all of you.

Again, thank you so much for your efforts. It means a great deal to those effected by this senseless tragedy.

I just got off the phone with Investigator Wunch from the Merrill Police Department, who has sadly informed me that still no one has come forward with any leads in this investigation, but assured me that this is at the top of their priority list as it effects so many in the community and surrounding area.

With the Reward Funds nearing dangerously close to the September 26th deadline, when they will roll over to the damage fund, I find it 110% necessary to not only try and make another push for donations, but to also get the conversation rolling again about the reward.

With the local kids starting school this week, if our culperate(s) are of school age, then it creates a hope that if we start talking about it again, and the word of the $6,000 Reward gets out again, that maybe someone will talk while at school. And if that happens, this will become a closed case very quickly, which we would all love to see.

I also wanted to take a minute to re-thank every person who has donated so far, every person who has shared this campaign, shared the story, shared my video from the cemetery, and everyone who has done anything else to try and spread the word about this horrific act of ultr-disrespectful destruction.

Please keep in mind that donations are still very much needed and there are more ways now than ever to donate!

First, obviously we have this campaign where you can easily make a donation from the comfort of your own home by a credit or debit card.

There is also a non-profit account setup at Park City Credit Union called the Merrill Memorial Fund. Checks or cash can be addressed to:
Merrill Memorial Fund
505 E 2nd St
Merrill, Wi 54452
(or taken directly to PCCU)

There is also a fundraiser at Schulzs Recycling of Merrill where you can donate your scrap items like aluminum cans, metal, cars, etc. Just tell them you want the items to be donated to the Merrill Memorial Fund.

All of these funds are deposited in the Non-Profit Organizational Account at PCCU and will be donated proportionately to the cemeteries at a date in the near future, after September 26th.

So please, with only 20 days left, let's get this conversation rolling again, let's try to raise some more money, but more importantly, let's try to get some answers!
What do you say, are you with me? Are you able to share this again?

HUGE THANK YOU to Reindl Printing Inc of Merrill for agreeing to donate the printing and cutting of 4000 Wanted flyers for the Merrill Cemetery Damage!
These flyers will serve as a reminder that we are still seeking information regarding the damage at the cemetery and that we have a reward of more than $6,000!
Hopefully, with the help of Reindl, we will be able to catch those responsible for this horrible and senseless situation!
If you would like to help hand these out at the fair, please get in touch with me!
Once again, thank you so much Reindl Printing!!!
