Thank you for coming to my GoFundMe campaign. Your time and interest in my story is a significant contribution within itself, and is greatly appreciated.
My name is Melvin A. Taylor and I am a father and author who encourages people to stay positive despite the odds, and to live their lives knowing “Resilience Defies the Impossible.”
To be fair, I did not always have this withstanding approach to life. With losing both of my parents within a couple of years of each other, experiencing a divorce, having fleeting thoughts of suicide (fortunately, my sister reminded me that suicide is a long term solution to short term problems and the only people you would be hurting are your loved ones) and the anxiety affiliated with seeking out my ambitions while facing the inevitable reality of my age--life has been a roller coaster.
What has kept me going? My kids for sure; but also finding solace in knowing that life’s hardships strike everyone and that I could use my journey to connect with the experience(s) of the silenced voices. When I've been knocked down, it's been crucial that I acknowledge my fall and then create a plan of action to optimize life here on this Earth...And that's exactly what I did.
As a coping mechanism and escape from the challenges around me, in 2011 and 2014 I released the first two books of The Kindred Spirits series--a story of loss and self-discovery that follows two brothers as they come of age and search for solutions regarding mysterious life events. Currently, I’m in the beginning stages of writing the third book to the series and I'm so eager to share it with you all.
I want my legacy to extend beyond a tangible asset of my existence and to serve as a haven for your voices to be heard. I want you to find comfort and clarity from the characters in my stories. I want to engage with you on my social media channels, at speaking events and feature your thoughts on my blog.
It's important that we continue to share and connect with each other. We become stronger that way.
