As some of you may know by now, one of my best friends has been going through some struggles with her health and unfortunately our Canadian Healthcare is not familiar with the disease that she has been diagnossed with, Lyme Disease.

Many of you know the vivacious and dynamic person that Melissa is. She is typically a social butterfly who is happy to assist others. She has not been able to work, and in fact was pretty much bed ridden for the majority of this beautiful summer. Over this past TWO years, prior to being diagnosed she had told her doctor that something was not right, only to be told by a couple of doctors that it was all in her head. This summer alone she has had 3 trips to the ER, started seeing a NEW family GP who had her going for daily IV's for over 3 weeks. Melissa spent many many days/nights researching what could be wrong with her health.
We are starting this goFundme page on behalf of Melissa for a number of reasons. One - because she wants to get her story out there as she believes that even if ONE person can relate and get help that will be worth it. Second, which she does not want to do, however I believe that we all love her enough to assist in the financial strain that comes from having to travel and pay for healthcare in the United States of America.
She has already spent over 500$ on testing from the states and if the specialists here do not start accepting her diagnoses from the U.S. she will have to continue travelling to the United States to get the medication and help that she needs, which will end up costing well over 10-15k!!!!
To give you an idea as to why this is happening, our healthcare system does a test on two strands of lyme disease as the states tests 32 strands!! THAT is insane and so far behind!
We are asking you to help however you can, any amount would be greatly appreciated as it all helps to cover the costs associated with getting healthy since our health care does not recognize this disease.
Any money raised will be used by Melissa to pay for gas, hotel, medication, and even the Dr. visit.
