Maya's Paralympian dream

Maya is 5 and has a dream to become a Paralympian

Maya first started taking part in fun runs at just a year old. When she completed the PGER fun run with her family to raise money for SHINE but Maya's real Love for racing started from the moment she first sat in a wheelchair at just 2 year olds! It started with her chasing her friends around nursery for the first time and within a few months she was completing her second PGER fun run! (with a little help from her family)
Last year Maya completed 2 big events,  thePGER 5km fun run and the Parellel 2016 5km.  raising money for charities that have supported her since birth. She completed both of these events independently in just over an hour!

In Spring 2017, Maya took part in a taster session for Wheelchair racing at her local athletics track. At just 5yrs old Maya is showing great promise.
Maya is training to complete the PGER this year in a race chair with Nene valley Harriers.

Maya is hoping to raise money to purchase essential equipement for her to progress within the sport.
She firstly needs some specialist wheelchair racing gloves. These need to be made to measure due to Maya's age and size.
Secondly, Maya is hoping to raise money for a specialist helmet.
Eventually Maya would like to raise enough money to be able to fund a small race chair for the club to allow more children to take part in wheelchair racing.

This year Maya is taking part in:
Disneyland Paris 5km race
Parrallel London 2017
PGER Fun run

Maya is completing various fund raising activities to raise money for her campaign and for charity as well as saving her pocket money to reach her target!
