"Really, Marianne, you made a gofundme page for graduate school?"
I get it. Everyone knows that grad school is super expensive, and one of the least affordable things out there. Plus, I know many of my peers are finding their own way to embark on such a pricey journey. Trust me, I know I'm not the only one.
But If you know me, you know that I’m not one to go out of my way to ask people for help, let alone be so willing to accept help/gifts. I’m used to fending myself and being an Independent Woman. But I’ve reached a point in my life where I humbly realize I cannot do this on my own (at least for right now). It took me a while to convince myself to make a gofundme, but here's where you come in!
I’ve been blessed to have been accepted to Howard University's Master's of Science Occupational Therapy Program. The program starts in Fall 2016, and is located in Washington, DC. Your generous donations are mainly to help me ease into this big transition - living expenses, books, uniforms, transportation fees. Once I get my feet wet, I plan to find employment while also juggling school. Tuition alone is roughly around $30,000 a year. I plan to pay my school loans once I'm an OT – BALLIN’.
Since graduating from CSULB with my Bachelor's Degree, I have been exposed to working with young children (K-2), young adults (16-20) who are either infected with/affected by HIV/AIDS, & geriatrics who face physical conditions (injuries, illnesses, accidents). It’s been a testing career, but also an extraordinarily rewarding one. Through it all, I figured out that I have the work ethic to pull through in such a field, but more so that I have the heart to work with a variety of individuals in various settings.
So, if at all possible, please help contribute to my dream!
