Romanian & Portuguese Dogs

£3,010 of £5,000 goal

Raised by 93 people in 2 months

There are dogs not only in the UK but all over the world needing our help.  We have just taken in our second lot of Romanian dogs and there are more to come.  The expenses of doing this is incredibly high but each day I am told about dogs living in terrible situations and so feel I have to help if and when I can.

Chitzibie and Brasov have lived in a back yard in Bucharest their whole lives with nothing bar dinner to look forward too.   They are both disabled as you can see in their video and no one wanted to help them but then their luck changed and a wonderful lady saved them.  They have had a lot of medical treatment but there is nothing more that can be done for them other than finding them a loving forever home but no one has offered them this. I think Many Tears supporters would want us to help and if you are one of them please send a donation even if it's just a £1, to show your support. Thousands of people follow us on Facebook and Twitter and read our site daily and I hope they want to help those dogs that have been forgotten, not wanted and without hope.

Chitzibie is a male beagle cross. He's around 9 years old and when he was first picked up was paralysed.  He had x-rays which didn't reveal anything so neurological treatment was started and plans for an MRI scan if he didn't respond. However he responded very well and started walking, so it's assumed he was probably hit in the head and had a haematoma. He has made a great recovery as you can see in the video and now just walks a little funny.

Brasov is a male bichon type. He was born with coxofemoral luxation on both sides, congenital hip and knee dysplasia, tarsal subluxation and cuadraceps muscle spasm in his right leg. He had femoral head resection surgery on both sides, ligament plasty in his left leg and the tarsal subluxation was fixed in the right leg.  Unsurprisingly he walks funny but is in no pain or discomfort and since the video he has had a hair cut!

The lady who runs the rescue in Portugal we are helping is very seriously ill and we are doing our best to ease her load whilst she is having dialysis.

The expenses of saving dogs from Portugal and Romanian is incredibly high and once all the dogs have arrived we are looking at in excess of £5,000.  So if you want Many Tears to continue to help the dogs that have witnessed terrible things, lived in appalling conditions and in the case of Chitzibie and Brasov been forgotten and ignored please do make a donation.  No matter how small of large it will be very gratefully received and will absolutely change a dogs life for the better.

Thank you

Our Romanian dogs have now arrived. Many have very sad stories and all have witnessed terrible things that no dog should see. Here are a few of their stories and links to their pages on our website if anyone is interested in adoption one of these very special dogs.

Ted
http://www.manytearsrescue.org/display_mtar_dog.php?id=21571
Ted is another of our resident gentlemen but what a terrible life he has had. He was rescued from a kill shelter in Romania but had clearly been kept on a chain previously as the evidence was shown around his neck. The Romanian rescue who saved him tell us Tim came out emaciated and had clearly been starved for some time but in their care has shown himself to have a love of life which we can also see here. He enjoys his food very very much and is now looking wonderful. Ted loves to play with other dogs and would like a home with at least one canine companion. When you meet him you can tell he is so grateful to be loved. He already walks on a lead quiet well but may need a little help with house training.

Yura
http://www.manytearsrescue.org/display_mtar_dog.php?id=21570
Yura is our fluffy little polar bear. She has waited a very long tine to find love and happiness in a home. Poor Yura came to us from Romania where in the "old days" for a certain period stray dogs were taken from the street, spayed or neutered, attatched with a ear tag loggging the activity and returned to the street. When Yura came into safe shelter as an emergency last year for a leg wound that thankfully was only her skin, her ear tag showed that she had been spayed under this old capture and release system in 2008, making it very likely that she has lived on the streets for at least ten long years. Yura is a very calm, gentle and and balanced dog, good with other dogs and happy to be around people. She would like a calm retirement home and would happily live with other dogs. We would like to mention she has a certain loving towards children too! This darling has seen to much and needs a home ASAP!

Clemmy
http://www.manytearsrescue.org/display_mtar_dog.php?id=21565
Clemmy is a darling girl with truely stunning eyes. She is nearly a year old and was rescued from a kill shelter in Romania. On releaseshe was mistakenly sent to a private fee paying shelter which has since been documented as keeping dogs in horrendous conditions with a high death rate from disease and starvation. Who knows what horros Clemmy has lived and seen before she ever entered the kill shelter. What is known is that she's a miracle multiple times survivor!! Clemmy has been in foster with lots of other dogs, she likes to play and would like a home with another dog or dogs for companionship. She will need lead and house training.

Daniel
http://www.manytearsrescue.org/display_mtar_dog.php?id=21567
Daniel is a nice gentle well behaved boy who was rescued from a kill centre in Romania. He has witnessed some atrocities that no dog should see and his left eye has been damaged by some kind of trauma which has left some scar tissue. It has been recommended that surgery won't improve his sight in that eye and would only be for aesthetic reasons. Despite all this Daniel is true gentleman who is very good with puppies, dogs and cats which he lived with in his foster home in Romania. He loves his wet food and we believe he would like to live with another gentle dog or dogs to help him with lead training and companionship.

We are expecting over 60 dogs from Portugal around the 23rd of this month. The lady who has coordinated this is very ill and on a kidney machine. Below is a what Olinda has written to help her dogs reach us and I know both she and I are desperate for this rescue to be a success. If you want to help by sending us a donation to help with the huge cost of this organising this rescue please do.
