Help Luke Acuff Fight Cancer
On Tuesday, January 8th, my brother, Luke was diagnosed with stage 4 Small Cell Lung Cancer. What started as a trip to the ER for pneumonia on the previous Thursday, turned into a week long stay at the hospital. During this time, doctors at Vista medical in Waukegan ran various tests in hopes to figure out exactly what was going on. After a CT scan showed an 8x6cm mass in Lukes right lung & multiple lesions in his liver, the doctors ordered a biopsy on the mass in his right lung.
On Tuesday they gave us the news that no one wants to hear. My brother has cancer. As shocking & devastating as this news is, we are confident that Luke is going to kick this cancer's ugly ass!!! On Monday, January 14th, he started his chemotherapy & immunotherapy treatments at OHANI in Gurnee under the care of Dr. Neelam.
Luke has never been the type to ask for anything from any one, but now we have the opportunity to lessen the financial strain on his family during this already difficult time. Luke & I are both self-employed. Through the growth of our business, he's become the main bread-winner for his wife, Aja, & one year old son, Evan.
With the chemo treatments taking such a toll on him physically & mentally, he is unable to work. The last thing I want my brother to worry about is how he's going to take care of his family.
