Lucas' Fight With Leukemia

"On May 1st 2019 our 4-year-old son, Lucas woke up with a very high temperature and swollen right cheek and neck. We were very concerned about the swelling so we took him straight to the emergency. At emergency they took him straight through thinking he had mumps or something similar but that was ruled out early on. He then had blood tests, a chest x-ray and ultrasound of his cheek. We thought that everything would come back clear and he just had a viral infection.
Unfortunately, his blood levels came back extremely low and we were told the devasting news that our beautiful active healthy son had leukemia.
The following day involved further testing including a bone marrow biopsy and lumbar puncture operation which confirmed that our son had B Cell Acute Lymphoblastic Leukemia. Due to this terrible disease being an aggressive fast-growing blood cancer especially in children. His first chemo treatment was required within three days and three chemo treatments are undertaken only within two weeks.
Treatment is now being conducted weekly including daily medications. Unfortunately, treatment will take at least 6-9months with the entire process being 2.5 years.
We are absolutely devasted that our entire world has changed overnight without any warnings or lead up. We are trying to be strong for Lucas but we know this unfortunate event will cause great stress on our young family in so many ways.
All money raised will go to the costs of treatment and all costs associated with the battle for Lucas' health. We thank anybody who shares this message or donates from the bottom of our heart."
